Illinois Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act of 2003 (VESSA)

This Policy was amended and approved by President Walker with an effective date of January 1, 2005. It establishes a permanent policy which, in effect, brings us in compliance with the Illinois Victims' Economic Security and Safety Act of 2003, provides employees unpaid leave to seek service, assistance, safety or legal remedies to address domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault directed at themselves or at a family or household member.

Amendment of this policy should be initiated by Human Resources as the ownership holder of the policy.  Consultation with the Executive Director of Finance and General Counsel is required during the amendment process.
