For administrative/professional positions, a promotion results when there is a change of assignment from a position in a particular job content level and salary range to a position in a higher job content level, which also results in a higher salary range; or when a position is reevaluated to a higher job content level, which also results in a higher salary range. If significant changes occur in a position with respect to job content, the position description should be updated and submitted for a reevaluation. Such changes might include the addition or removal of a major responsibility or several minor responsibilities, or a major shift in the emphasis of the position.
